MARSOC history and training?

Hello my fellow readers! I am curious as to the history of MARSOC. I am aware of it's creation, how it is more or less Force Recon except under SOCOM command, and that nasty indecent where they fired on civilians, accident or not I lack knowledge. But that is old information, what I seek to pluck from(hopefully) your fountains of knowledge is what have they been up to now? Also I have the question on their training. I know it is called the Individual Training Course and that it takes over seven months but can anyone shed light as to what it is like? How challenging it is compared to the branches of the military's special operations training? Thank you for reading.
