Marine Corps Officer alcohol history disqualification.?
Okay so I went to MEPS today and the topic came up of ER visits. A few years ago (while in college) I went to the ER because I was very sick from having too much to drink, I did not have alcohol poisoning. I never drank a lot before the incident and have not drank at all since, so I would not consider me to be someone who abuses alcohol. At MEPS they considered this alcohol abuse. The Gunnery Sergeant at MEPS said it was not a big deal, at most I would have to come back in for a psychological evaluation. Although, when I spoke to the Gunnery Sergeant at my OSO's office he said because I am applying to be an officer I am held to a higher standard, and I totally understand, that I would probably be disqualified for alcohol abuse. My question is, does anyone have knowledge of what usually happens in this situation? Has anyone applying to Marine OCS encountered something similar and what was the outcome? If you are military personnel involved in officer selection what is the usual outcome of an indecent like mine. Thank you for your input.
