Legal question about shady background check?

Ok before I get to my question I just want to explain the circumstances of this shady background check. I have only been in legal trouble once and it was a very minor indecent. My uncle who is a paralegal works for the local court house where his cousin is the judge. I had mentioned that I had gotten in some minor trouble but I didn't give him any details. He went out of his way to do a "background check" on me and other my family members of mine. The day after my first court appearance he confronted me about it in front of some friends which was very rude and embarrassing, he didn't just know a little about the case he knew every detail. I said he had broken the law by doing so, he said it was all public domain but I wasn't even done with the courts nor was I convicted of anything. First I want to know if what he did was illegal and second whats a good way I could find out his "public record" Thanks
