I bought a Onkyo HT-S3300 home theater system. There is no receiver. Will any other receiver work? OR DO I NEE?

I am guessing the speakers have regular speaker wire jacks? Yes any receiver should work, but one thing you should check is the subwoofer. Some systems have an rca style plug and a powered subwoofer, others have regular speaker wire jacks and an unpowered subwoofer. Just make sure the receiver you purchase/use matches subwoofer.
