Can i return my broken toy when the company is sending me a free new one?

Hello. I bought a Barbie in a fairy secret doll, and she is broken. I contacted Mattel and they are sending me a free new one because that one doesnt work. But i was wondering, can i return the broken one when they are sending me a free new one? Thanks!
